The Internet and Dating

There are many citizens today that wonder when or how they are going to meet the one person they are supposed to spend the rest of their life with. So people try so hard to find the one that they try to branch out and use different ways to find love. Normally, you go on a date with someone that a friend sets you up with, and sometimes it does not always work out. There are many different complications that come along with internet dating. Ask yourself what are the problems and issues people face with internet dating? This question could help you escape different dangers you could possibly be getting yourself into.
Internet dating has been around for quit sometime now. Online dating has been around for ten years, and it still is growing (Internet dating). People sign up to be apart of internet dating everyday for ten years and also spending a great deal of money every month. According to the wall street journal, over 2 billion dollars was spent on online dating in 2007 (Internet dating). That is a tremendous amount of money the people pay just to have a website of their own that random people all over your area can view any day of the week. This creates many problems, especially with the way the economy is today. Spending money on these sites seems worth it when the user can gain information and tips for dating. The internet will always tell you to do something that can help give the user advice. Trying to boast the trend of a website is by telling people things they want to hear about the website. Websites like eHarmony, match.com, fubar, and okcupid are advertized everyday on television and on pop-ups on your computer. Each site provides things with dating tips. They are tips that will either improve your relationships, or understand the phenomenon (dating pro). These are things that a user would love to hear and that are exactly what the website will offer to people.
Problems with internet dating are always the obvious ones and the ones that no one has any idea they are getting themselves into. Internet is a site where a person can put up pictures and facts about themselves for other people to view. This means that a person can make web pages about themselves that is completely false. There could be a picture of this really pretty women or a very handsome man, but is that really their picture? People using the internet for dating really need to ask themselves these questions in order to really know who you are talking too. You could ask the person to send a recent picture of them before they go out on a date (dating2day). That is only one problem a user will face with using internet dating. Everything that is done online is a very risky thing to sign up for. When you sign up for a website or when you order something online you are required to use a credit card. Once you put your credit card number into the computer you could very possibly be signing yourself up to a website for a year. Little do most people know because there is no warning about it, is that your card is being charged every month for the use of the website (dating2day). There are things people should consider before they get their selves involved with a website.
Friends are the people that want to be the match maker for their friends. Going on a blind date is the old fashion way of meeting someone. Most people do not go out and meet a random person that your best friend has set you up with. When you meet with the person you need to go through the ropes of an introduction and the initial beginning phase. Blind dates are tough because you could go and meet a person for dinner is a restaurant that is the last place you would go out to eat. You may have to sit at the table with a date that you know absolutely nothing about and have never met before in your life (wifedating). When you go on the internet you can see what the person is supposed to look like. That is one thing about the internet that makes the dating process easier. When you are searching different people and their web pages and you find someone that interests you, you can e-mail them. You can know a little bit about the person before you meet them by chatting, e-mailing, or leaving a message in their page (wifedating). This is a process many people wished they could have done before they had agreed to go on a blind date with your best friends, cousins, friend. The internet might be the new and upcoming way that people will date and there may be no such thing as a blind date in the future.
Internet dating and blind dating are two very risky things for a person to get themselves into. Most people sign up for internet dating so there is not awkwardness if you do not have an interest in the person. Through the internet you do not have to go and have a conversation with the person the second that you meet them. You can get to know a little bit about the person before you actually meet face to face.
Dating through the internet started ten years ago and it still has problems to work through. But, people some how seem to be finding the right one over the internet for quit a while now. There are also people that have found the right person by going out on a blind date. Blind dating and internet dating are two things in life that have problems and issues and people do not really take these certain problems into consideration. So hopefully a lesson learned will help you to find the right person

Ryan Albright's feedback for Kelly Florczak
  • What is the thesis? That online dating can be used as a source for matchmaking.
How is the essay organized? The whole essay really goes into the pro's and cons of online dating. I felt that this paper was just a body.
  • Was the organization logical? An into/conclusion would make this a good paper.
  • Were any parts not relevant to the thesis? No
  • What examples and types of evidence were most convincing? I enjoyed the section in which online dating was contrasted with blind dating.
  • What two places could use more development? Conclusiion and intro.
  • Did the introduction catch your attention? Yes.
